How Dourena makes money

Money never buys an organic rating or an organic ranking position.

Not affiliate relationships. Not premium business listings. Not brand partnerships. Not sponsorship of any kind.

This is not a sentiment. It is the business model. Dourena’s only durable asset is that people believe the reviews, and a platform where rankings can be bought is worth less than nothing — the moment anyone can show a ranking was purchased, the entire corpus becomes a liability. Every stream below is designed to earn without touching organic rank.

Dourena is in public beta. The only stream running is affiliate links: we participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, in Native Pet’s affiliate program and in Finn’s affiliate program, and those links on product pages are marked “Paid link”. They are the only affiliate links on the site today, no business is paying for a listing, and no brand partnership exists. Dourena Club, our planned membership, is not open and takes no payments — there is only a free founding list. This page states the commitments that bind every stream, including the ones not yet running.

Product pages carry links to retailers and brands. If you buy through one marked “Paid link”, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Today those are Amazon, Native Pet and Finn links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

• Every affiliate link is disclosed on the page it appears on.
• A product with no affiliate program is researched, reviewed and shown exactly like one that has a program. Dourena does not rank products or name winners, and money never decides what we write or where a product appears.
• We do not remove or demote a product because it cannot be monetised.

Local businesses will be able to claim a listing and pay for tiers that add presentation and features — verified ownership, photos, hours, service detail, the ability to respond to reviews, and analytics.

What a tier never buys is rank. A paying business’s rating is calculated identically to a free one’s. Where a placement is paid for, it sits in a slot clearly marked as sponsored, beside or above organic results — never mixed into them and never reordering them.

Brands may sponsor clearly labeled content or placements. A partnership does not buy a review, influence a score, or grant any say over what we publish about the brand’s products.

Dourena Club is our planned membership for dog owners. It will lay our free guidance over your own dog’s dates — what to do this week, what’s coming next, and your progress, saved for each dog. It is not open yet and does not take payments; today there is only a free founding list. Founding membership is planned at $4.99 a month or $39 a year.

Your membership never changes which products Dourena reviews, compares or researches.

• Club personalizes your dog’s journey, not which products Dourena favors. It never picks a product for your dog.
• There are no member deals, discounts or paid placements.
• Members’ reviews count exactly like everyone else’s.
• Everything free today stays free. Club adds to it; it never takes anything away.

The Birthday Club is planned as part of Dourena Club rather than as a separate membership. Any perk from a partner business will be labelled as that partner’s, and offering a perk does not move a business up a listing.

In time, anonymised and aggregated trends about what dog owners search for and buy may be sold as market research. This never includes personal information, individual accounts, or anything that identifies a user or a dog. See the privacy policy.

• Accept payment to raise a rating, a ranking, or a recommendation.
• Accept payment to remove or bury an honest negative review.
• Publish a sponsored placement without labelling it as one.
• Let a commercial relationship decide what gets researched or covered.
• Sell personal information about a user or a dog.
